About Lindsay Walker, LMFT
My Story
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) working at a private practice in Portland, OR. I specialize in working with couples and families with a broad range of presenting problems. I am also certified in Prepare-Enrich assessments for couples.
My primary areas of experience and interest include sex therapy (including low/high desire, differing sexual interests, incorporating sexual interests into a relationship, sex after a life-changing
incident and trauma), couples therapy, family therapy, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I also provides group counseling covering various topics.
"I help people become aware of their sexual selves so they can begin to heal and grow."
My Philosophy
I believe that each client who enters my office has an amazing strength that they frequently overlook. Therapy can help an individual, couple, and family find a way to use their strengths to work on improving their growth areas. In therapy, I practice research-informed techniques to help my clients navigate the sometimes overwhelming problems affecting them. I use techniques from various models of therapy including Narrative, Emotionally-Focused, Systemic, and Cognitive-Behavioral. Since a lifetime of a problem can't be solved in only an hour a week, I will also give homework assignments including readings, journal prompts, assessments, exercises, and practicing new tools discussed in sessions.
